1. Job Details

Position Title: Director Internationalization

Department: International Collaboration

Location: MIT-WPU, Pune

Reporting To: Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

2. Job Purpose

The Director International Collaborations will be responsible for strengthening and expanding MITWPU's global footprint by developing strategic international partnerships, enhancing global visibility, and promoting international student recruitment. The role focuses on building long-term collaborations with reputed international institutions, research centres, and global partners through academic exchanges, joint programs, student mobility, and research partnerships.

3. Key Accountabilities

A. Strategic Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of institutional strategies aimed at attracting high-quality international students and partners.
  • Provide strategic insights and advisory inputs to the University leadership on global education trends, emerging international markets, and competitive positioning.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend international partnership opportunities aligned with the University's academic and strategic priorities.

B. Operational Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee orientation programs for international students, including pre-departure and in-country orientations.
  • Ensure orientation programs cover academic expectations, institutional policies, student support services, cultural adaptation, safety, and local logistics.
  • Act as a key liaison between international students and internal stakeholders, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a competent team; ensure performance management, training, and continuous capability development.

C. Financial & Budget Management

  • Oversee financial planning and budget management for international operations.
  • Ensure transparency, compliance, and effective utilization of allocated budgets.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to plan and monitor international marketing initiatives and related expenditures.

D. Collaborations & Partnerships

  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with international universities, research institutions, industry partners, and global education bodies.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Schools, Career Services, Industry Relations, Student Affairs, and Academic Administration.
  • Support initiatives related to joint programs, faculty exchange, student mobility, and collaborative research.

E. Research & Market Intelligence

  • Conduct market research to assess global education trends, student mobility patterns, and emerging international markets.
  • Maintain comprehensive data and analytics on international recruitment performance.
  • Prepare periodic reports and insights for senior management to support strategic decision-making.

F. Academic & Admissions Support

  • Oversee and enhance international student lead management processes, from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Ensure CRM systems and databases are accurate, updated, and effectively utilized for nurturing prospective students.

G. External Representation

  • Represent MIT-WPU at national and international forums, conferences, education fairs, and professional bodies.
  • Strengthen the University's brand visibility and reputation through active engagement with external stakeholders, government bodies, and global networks.

4. Person Specification

Experience & Leadership

  • Proven senior leadership experience in international education, global partnerships, or related domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in developing and executing international strategies within higher education or comparable sectors.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of professionalism, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent the institution at national and international platforms.

Qualifications

  • MBA from a reputed institution; engineering background preferred.
  • Minimum 18+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and related digital tools.
