Aajeevika Bureau invites applications for an experienced and committed professional to join the leadership team of India Labourline, a flagship initiative headquartered in Bangalore.

India Labourline is a national phone-based service offering information, counselling, distress support, and emergency response to informal workers across India. It aims to become a vital resource for workers across diverse sectorsconstruction, factories, urban services, farm work, street vending, and more. India Labourline is supported by a strong response network of trade unions and civil society organizations across the country.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Director, India Labourline will be part of Aajeevika Bureau's leadership team, responsible for guiding, mentoring, and scaling the India Labourline operations. The Director role will provide strategic leadership, ensure operational excellence, and guide the helpline's growth as a national service for informal workers. Key responsibilities include:

(a)Strategic and Operational Leadership: Lead overall management of India Labourline, including planning, implementation, and execution of its expansion strategy.

(b)Team Leadership and Processes: Oversee recruitment, retention, and capacity building of helpline teams. Strengthen counselling protocols, workflows, and operational systems.

(c)Partnerships and Response Network: Build and coordinate partnerships with labour organizers, CSOs, and legal networks to ensure fast and effective responses to worker distress cases.

(d)Technology and Systems Oversight: Supervise the helpline's technology platforms, ensuring seamless functioning, strong case management systems, and ongoing improvements.

(e)Advocacy, Media, and Government Engagement: Represent India Labourline with media, government departments, and other stakeholders to enhance visibility, credibility, and policy linkages.

(f)Monitoring, Quality Assurance, and Learning: Lead data monitoring, case review, and quality checks. Strengthen systems for documentation, learning, and continuous improvement.

(g)Donor Management and Compliance: Manage donor reporting, documentation, and organizational compliance. Activity support resource mobilization and sustainability efforts.

Who Are We Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

A postgraduate degree in development studies, management, law, labour policy, counselling, or a related field.

At least 12 -14 years of relevant professional experience in a development, rights-based, or organizational leadership environment.

Demonstrated administrative experience and the ability to nurture and lead teams effectively.

Strong communication skills, including donor engagement and reporting.

Comfort with and understanding of technology, essential for managing a nationwide helpline.

Willingness to travel extensively to coordinate with state teams.

The position is based in Bangalore; familiarity with the city's professional and social environment, and existing networks, will serve as a strong advantage for this role.
