Job Description

Overview

The Director of Technology manages a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining enterprise applications and services. This role emphasizes leadership in .NET application development, AI/ML integration, and modern engineering practices. The Director ensures strong hiring and onboarding processes, coaches engineers through code reviews, and drives improvements in application health, monitoring, and communication. While not expected to regularly write code, the Director provides technical oversight, fosters innovation, and ensures engineering excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a team of engineers, ensuring alignment with business and technology goals.
  • Lead the process for hiring, onboarding, and developing engineering talent.
  • Review pull requests, provide coaching, and enforce best practices in .NET development and AI/ML integration.
  • Ensure the release process is documented, standardized, and that all engineers are trained on it.
  • Improve overall application health through proactive monitoring, observability, and AI-driven diagnostics.
  • Enhance communication processes across engineering and operations teams.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1s and biannual performance reviews to support career growth.
  • Prioritize technical debt, system upgrades, and modernization initiatives (including migration to .NET Core and AI-powered solutions).
  • Provide architectural guidance on scalable, secure, and cloud-native systems.
  • Collaborate with product and business leaders to align engineering strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and responsible AI adoption.

Required

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of engineering leadership experience.
  • Strong expertise in .NET frameworks, cloud-native architectures, and AI/ML technologies.
  • Experience managing release processes, monitoring systems, and application health.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to balance technical oversight with strategic priorities.
