Job Description

Job Summary

  • The Product Control GBS is accountable for delivery of the end-to-end product & valuation control functions in GBS and lead different strategic initiatives for Treasury Product Control (PC) and Valuation Control (VC) including Balance Sheet Substantiation controllership.
  • We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled professional to join our Treasury team as the Head of Product Control, reporting into the Global head of product control and subledger operations. This role will play a pivotal part in expanding the Bank's Product and Valuation Control capabilities, developing compliant and commercially effective strategies, and supporting IFRS 9 transition initiatives. The successful candidate will act as lead running the Treasury Product and Valuation Control, working closely with Technical Accounting, Treasury, Markets, IRRBB, Liquidity, Capital, and other key stakeholders to deliver best-in-class accounting solutions across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective application of accounting and financial control policies and procedures for Treasury.
  • Help business to ensure that specific financial risks inherent in the processes involving treasury products are identified, monitored, controlled, and mitigated in a timely manner by developing and maintaining a controllership function which meets the requirements of best practices in relation to Treasury.
  • Spearhead the end-to-end design and implementation of Treasury PC and VC controllership.
  • Oversee the valuation control processes for loans and equity, ensuring accurate and fair valuation in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Manage the IPV process to ensure the integrity and reliability of valuation data for financial instruments.
  • Implement and maintain IPV policies and procedures in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Other Activities

Regulatory & Audit Engagement

  • Leading Treasury PC and VC engagement with Global and Regional Regulators and Statutory and Internal Auditors supporting all Treasury related queries, questionnaires, and audits.

Controls

  • To lead, inspire and motivate the respective business's product and valuation control teams ensuring that everyone achieves their potential and that the team delivers its collective agenda.
  • System Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results, including analysis and commentary on variances.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with front office, risk management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the daily P&L and balance sheet controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Manage revenue recognition processes, ensuring alignment with IFRS9, IFRS15 and other regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain robust control frameworks to mitigate risks and ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures which ensure the accounting, management and financial reporting integrity of the balance sheet and P&L.
  • Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a robust control environment in respect of Treasury PC and VC controllership.

People and Talent

  • To lead, inspire and motivate the Treasury PC and VC controllership and transformation teams ensuring that everyone achieves their potential and that the team delivers its collective agenda.
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners across the organization.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
  • Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Provide thought leadership and take accountability on different initiatives spanning Technology, Regulatory & Group reporting Controls.
  • Lead and manage financial projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Stakeholders

  • Partner with Group Treasury CFO and Head of Treasury FP&A to drive controllership.
  • Supporting the introduction of new products within respective businesses and related pre and post execution governance. Providing insight with respect to structural and/or system changes and future business expansion/changes and their impact on business performance.
  • Regulators and their appointed auditors (where applicable)

Key Requirements For The Role

  • Relevant business experience in operations, business analysis or project management.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-focused with the ability to interpret large volume of information.
  • Problem solving skills with ability to influence across all levels of business.
  • Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimum hands-on supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA, CFA) is strongly preferred.
  • 1015 years of experience in finance or accounting functions, with a strong preference for candidates with Treasury, FTP and Hedge accounting expertise.
  • Deep technical knowledge of Treasury Product Control and Valuation Control frameworks (e.g., IAS 39) and practical experience in financial instrument valuation.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and executing controllership, hedge accounting strategies across multiple risk types.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to apply judgment in data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate across business, finance, and technical teams.
  • Strong Control mindset
  • Strong Product knowledge at across the core business products.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to build an effective internal network across the numerous stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership qualities to manage, retain and mentor a large team and coach the next generation of leaders.
