Position || Director - Finance
The Director - Finance will serve as the strategic financial architect of the University, responsible for financial sustainability, governance, regulatory compliance, capital planning, and institutional risk management.
Reporting to the COO and working closely with the Founder's Office and Board, the Director Finance will build financial systems, ensure operational discipline, and enable long-term institutional growth.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop long-term financial models aligned with institutional growth
Drive budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning
Ensure financial sustainability across academic programs
Strategy for Identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risk
2. Governance, Compliance & ControlsEnsure statutory compliance (University regulations, taxation, audit norms)
Oversee internal and external audits
Establish strong financial controls and policies
Maintain risk registers and compliance dashboards
3. Capital & Infrastructure PlanningLead capital expenditure planning for campus development
Manage treasury and working capital
Structure financial models for expansion initiatives
Support fundraising and endowment financial governance
4. Financial Operations & SystemsOversee accounting, MIS, payroll, and procurement
Implement and streamline ERP/finance systems
Ensure timely reporting to leadership and Board
Create transparency in financial reporting
5. Team Leadership & Capability BuildingBuild and mentor a high-performing finance team
Develop SOPs and financial playbooks
Drive process discipline and operational efficiency
Qualifications & Experience
Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA (Finance)
1015 years of experience in finance leadership roles
Experience in startup, education, services, or mission-driven organization preferred
Strong exposure to compliance, audits, capital management, and financial systems
Experience working with founders/boards is an advantage.
