Director, Data Platform & Governance (APAC)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Leader to drive the strategy, governance, and evolution of enterprise-scale data platforms across a regional/global landscape. This role sits at the intersection of business, IT, and data, with a strong focus on enabling scalable, secure, and high-performing data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and operate enterprise-scale data platforms (cloud/hybrid), ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability
• Define and implement robust data governance frameworks (cataloging, lineage, data quality, access management)
• Lead the full data product lifecycle - from creation to evolution and retirement — aligned with global standards
• Collaborate closely with IT, business stakeholders, and global data offices to drive alignment and adoption
• Manage and develop a high-performing technical team
• Drive continuous improvement, cost optimization, and platform efficiency

Requirements

Must-Have Experience

• 8+ years in data management, data engineering, or data platform leadership roles
• At least 3 years in a regional or global capacity
• Proven track record managing enterprise-scale data platforms
• Strong experience in data governance frameworks and tools
• Solid stakeholder management across IT, business, and global teams
• Experience leading and developing technical teams

Technical Skills

• Databricks: Advanced proficiency in data engineering, orchestration, and analytics
• Azure Data Ecosystem: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS, and related services
• Data Modeling: Dimensional, lakehouse, medallion architectures, schema management, data contracts
• Data Governance Tools: Purview, Data Hub, metadata management, lineage tracking
• Security & Compliance: PII handling, RBAC, AD groups, RLS, GDPR and local regulations
• Cost Management: Ability to analyze and optimize platform costs

Communication & Leadership

• Strategic thinker with the ability to define and execute a unified data platform vision
• Strong communicator — able to translate complex technical topics into business impact
• Confident engaging both senior leadership and technical teams
• Influential and collaborative across global and cross-functional teams
