The
Financial Controller will own Masai's end-to-end financial controllership, compliance, and governance framework. This role is critical in ensuring
financial discipline, audit readiness, statutory compliance, and investor-grade reporting, especially in a fast-scaling, VC-backed environment.
You will work closely with the
Founders, Leadership Team, auditors, and investors, supporting fundraising, due diligence, and long-term financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Controllership & Reporting
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and review MIS, financial statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis
- Ensure strong internal financial controls and accounting governance
Compliance & Statutory Matters
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Income Tax, GST, TDS, PF, ESIC, and other applicable regulations
- Coordinate and manage statutory audits, tax audits, and internal audits
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, bankers, and regulatory authorities
Fundraising & Due Diligence Support
- Lead financial support for VC due diligence, term sheet requirements, and investor reporting
- Maintain clean, well-structured financial data rooms
- Support valuation discussions, audit queries, and compliance confirmations
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management
- Drive annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and cash flow planning
- Monitor burn rate, runway, and working capital efficiency
- Provide insights to leadership on cost optimization and financial risks
Systems, Processes & Scale
- Strengthen and automate accounting systems, processes, and SOPs
- Ensure readiness for scale (headcount growth, new entities, international expansion if applicable)
- Partner with HR, Legal, and Operations on payroll, contracts, ESOPs, and vendor governance
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounts team
- Build a high-ownership, high-integrity finance function aligned with business goals
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred; MBA (Finance) is a plus
- 8 15+ years of experience in financial controllership
- Experience in startups or VC-backed companies strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with fundraising, audits, and due diligence
- Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards, taxation, and compliance
