Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to establish and lead the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Office. Reporting to the Chief Data andDigital Officer (CDDO) and Senior Management, the Director will play a pivotal role in advancing the responsible development, evaluation, and integration of AI across clinical care, healthcare operations, and academic research. This appointment offers a unique opportunity to shape AI-enabled innovation within a clinical academic environment, driving the translation of research into practice and enhancing patient outcomes, system performance, and scholarly excellence.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Develop and implement an enterprise AI strategy aligned with cluster and institutional priorities in patient care, education, and research.
  • Establish robust governance frameworks to ensure the safe, ethical, and compliant use of AI, including data governance, model validation, and risk management.
  • Oversee the design, evaluation, and deployment of AI-enabled solutions, with a focus on clinical relevance, safety, and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner closely with clinicians, researchers, and operational leaders to integrate AI into care pathways, clinical workflows, and institutional systems.
  • Advance translational AI by bridging research, clinical application, and real-world implementation, fostering innovation that is both evidence-based and practice-ready.
  • Build education initiatives, provide mentorship and lead multidisciplinary teams spanning data science, clinical informatics, and applied research, while strengthening institutional capabilities in AI.
  • Promote collaboration with academic institutions, research partners, and industry to accelerate innovation and knowledge exchange.

Requirements

  • Masters degree (advanced degree preferred) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a healthcare-related discipline, with at least 15 years of experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying AI solutions within healthcare, academic medicine, or similarly complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, research methodologies, and the regulatory and ethical considerations associated with AI in healthcare.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and to engage effectively with clinicians, researchers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable initiatives.
  • Track record of delivering impactful programmes that advance clinical care, operational effectiveness, or academic research.
