About the Role
We are looking for an experienced manufacturing professional to take ownership of the day-to-day use, improvement and expansion of our FACTOS Manufacturing Execution System within our injection-moulding operations.
Our first stage is already complete. 16 injection-moulding machines are connected through IoT devices and HMIs, production plans are visible on the shop floor, and real-time production, shot-count and cycle-time data is being captured correctly.
This is not a software-development or MES-architecture role. We need someone who understands manufacturing operations and can ensure that operators, supervisors and production teams use the system correctly and consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Take day-to-day ownership of the FACTOS MES system
- Ensure production plans are correctly loaded, started, monitored and closed
- Train operators, supervisors, mould setters and other shop-floor employees
- Ensure production, downtime and rejection entries are accurate and complete
- Monitor daily system usage and correct missing or incorrect entries
- Work with the Production Supervisor to compare planned and actual production
- Analyse cycle time, output, downtime, rejection and machine performance
- Prepare simple daily, weekly and monthly production reports
- Use MES data to identify production losses and improvement opportunities
- Coordinate corrective actions with production, quality, maintenance and tool-room teams
- Work with Dalnex/FACTOS and IoT support teams when technical issues arise
- Create practical SOPs and standard processes for shop-floor users
- Support future modules such as raw-material traceability, maintenance and mould tracking
- Help standardise the process before rollout to additional factories
Production-planning decisions will initially remain with the owners and Production Supervisor. The selected person will first stabilise and strengthen the existing system.
Required Experience
- At least 5–6 years of experience in a manufacturing facility
- Hands-on experience in injection moulding, plastics manufacturing or another machine-based manufacturing process
- Experience using or implementing an MES, digital production system, production-monitoring system or Industry 4.0 solution
- Understanding of production planning, machine cycle time, output, downtime, rejection and manufacturing KPIs
- Experience working directly with operators, supervisors, quality and maintenance teams
- Experience training shop-floor users and ensuring process compliance
- Ability to analyse production reports and identify incorrect or incomplete data
- Strong practical problem-solving and follow-up skills
- Ability to take ownership and work independently
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in the following will be strongly preferred:
- Injection-moulding machines and moulds
- Plastic components or packaging manufacturing
- Mould changes and machine setups
- Downtime and rejection analysis
- OEE, machine utilisation and productivity improvement
- Shop-floor digitalisation
- Raw-material traceability
- Preventive maintenance or mould-life tracking
- Multi-factory manufacturing operations
Educational Background
A diploma or degree in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, Plastics, Polymer, Industrial, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or a related discipline is preferred.
Candidates with strong relevant manufacturing experience may also be considered.
The Ideal Candidate
The right person will:
- Understand manufacturing operations better than software architecture
- Be comfortable working regularly on the shop floor
- Communicate effectively with operators and supervisors
- Train employees patiently and practically
- Enforce process discipline without creating unnecessary conflict
- Respect existing manufacturing knowledge and working methods
- Use data to improve operations rather than only prepare dashboards
- Follow issues until they are fully resolved
- Work effectively with family-business owners and professional teams
This Role Is Not Primarily For
- Software developers or MES architects
- Database administrators
- Pure IT-support candidates
- Candidates with only theoretical Industry 4.0 knowledge
- Candidates without hands-on manufacturing experience
- Candidates looking for a desk-only role
Expected Outcomes
Within the first six months, the selected person should help achieve:
- Stable operation of all eight connected machines and HMIs
- Standardised FactOS usage by operators and supervisors
- Correct production-plan start and closure
- More than 90% downtime-entry completion
- More than 95% rejection-entry completion
- Regular production-performance reporting
- Corrective actions for major downtime and rejection causes
- At least one measurable productivity or loss-reduction improvement
- Readiness for the next stage of factory digitalisation
