Job Description
Supply Chain Management
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Plan and optimize material flow from suppliers to plants and from warehouses to customers.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities in transportation, sourcing, and logistics operations.
- Manage vendor performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Warehouse Management
- Oversee warehouse operations across multiple locations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and dispatch.
- Optimize warehouse layout, space utilization, and material handling processes.
- Implement warehouse automation, WMS, and best practices to improve productivity and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and company policies.
Inventory Control
- Maintain high inventory accuracy (target 99.8% and above).
- Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages, excess inventory, and obsolescence.
- Implement FIFO/FEFO practices and manage slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
Procurement & Logistics
- Support strategic sourcing and contract negotiations with key vendors and logistics partners.
- Manage transportation planning, route optimization, and freight cost control.
- Coordinate with 3PLs, transporters, and internal fleet operations.
Performance & Reporting
- Define and monitor KPIs such as inventory turnover, order fulfillment rate, logistics cost per unit, and warehouse productivity.
- Prepare MIS reports and present insights to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with production, sales, finance, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Support business expansion, new warehouse setup, and system implementation projects.
The Successful Applicant
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.
- MBA in Supply Chain / Operations Management preferred.
- Experience: 15-25 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Certifications: APICS CSCP / CPIM or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Preferred Industry: Candidates from building materials industry, particularly Steel/Cement, where there are large no of warehouses/godowns
