Role Overview
This role sits within the Central Projects unit and will drive end-to-end cost management, budgeting, and value engineering across projects. The incumbent will work closely with design, projects, procurement, and BD teams to ensure cost efficiency, design optimization, and robust financial control across the project lifecycle.
Qualification & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering
- 10-15 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost planning, budgeting, and value engineering
- Experience across residential/commercial real estate projects preferred
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
Costing & Budgeting
- Lead end-to-end cost planning, estimation, and budgeting from project inception (BD/TDD stage) through design and execution (concept, schematic, GFC stages)
- Prepare detailed project budgets, cost plans, and cost-to-complete forecasts; track and update on a periodic basis
- Drive budgetary control across projects, ensuring adherence to approved cost benchmarks
- Prepare and present monthly/quarterly cost reports and variance analysis to stakeholders
Quantity Surveying & Contracts
- Manage pre- and post-contract QS activities including BOQs, tender documentation, and bid evaluation
- Conduct rate analysis, validate vendor quotes, and support procurement in commercial negotiations
- Review and certify variation orders, escalation claims, and contractor billing
Value Engineering
- Drive value engineering initiatives across design and execution stages to optimize cost without compromising quality or timelines
- Collaborate with design and project teams to evaluate alternative materials, specifications, and construction methodologies
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement standardization and benchmarking across projects
Project Cost Control & Monitoring
- Monitor project costs against budgets, flag risks, and recommend corrective actions
- Track cash flows, commitments, and cost-to-complete to ensure financial discipline
- Ensure alignment between design development and cost implications at all stages
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with BD team to provide cost inputs for land acquisition and deal evaluation
- Work with planning and project teams to monitor cash outflows and cost phasing
- Support leadership with data-driven insights for decision-making on cost and design trade-offs
