Job Description

CS&Q – Data Office Manager

The Data Office Coordinator supports the CS&Q Entity Data Office in governing, managing, and enabling the effective use of data across the organization. The role focuses on operational execution, coordination, and orchestration of Data Office activities including data governance, data quality, privacy & security support, metadata and catalogue management, and data delivery tracking.

This role is designed for professionals who have already been exposed to a Data Office, Data Governance, or equivalent central data function, and who demonstrate a strong intent to build a career in the Data Office space. While structured training and coaching will be provided, success in this role requires prior experience in coordinating data stakeholders, managing governance‑related deliverables, and operating effectively across business and digital teams.

The coordinator works closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Privacy Office, Data Engineering, Digital teams, and business stakeholders to improve data maturity and support CS&Q digital and analytics initiatives (AI, Data Sharing, Cloud, IoT).

This is a senior individual contributor role with strong execution and stakeholder orchestration responsibilities.

Detailed Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Data Governance & Data Office Support
  • Coordinate execution of data initiatives aligned with business priorities.
  • Maintain governance documentation, policies, standards, and process artefacts.
  • Support the onboarding and coordination of Data Owners, Data Stewards, and other governance stakeholders.
  • Manage internal communication: announcements, guidance notes, newsletters, meeting summaries.
  • Track progress of data programs and maintain Data Office dashboards (Power BI).
  • Data Privacy, Security & Compliance Support
  • Work with the Data Privacy Office to ensure adherence to GDPR, DPDP, CCPA and global privacy standards.
  • Support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and maintain Data Processing Records.
  • Coordinate periodic privacy compliance checks and evidence gathering for audits.
  • Maintain documentation for data security controls and risk management.
  • Contribute to the Data Risk Register and data maturity assessments.
  • Data Quality Management
  • Coordinate with Data Owners and Stewards to define, document, and maintain Data Quality rules.
  • Track Data Quality KPIs and support remediation cycles.
  • Facilitate data quality checks, exception handling, and verification activities.
  • Maintain data quality dashboards and summaries for leadership.
  • Metadata, Catalogue & Domain Management
  • Maintain the Business Glossary and Data Catalogue entries in collaboration with business and technical teams.
  • Support metadata quality checks and ensure completeness of definitions, lineage, and ownership.
  • Document data domain ownership structures and maintain stewardship information.
  • Conduct onboarding/training sessions for new stewards on metadata and governance processes.
  • Project Management Support – Data Delivery
  • Support the Project Manager (PM) in planning, tracking, and reporting Data Delivery initiatives.
  • Maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies: stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives when needed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (Data Engineering, Platforms, Security, Business).
  • Track delivery KPIs and ensure transparent communication with stakeholders.
  • Prepare updates for governance committees and leadership reviews.
  • Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
  • Prepare regular reports, executive summaries, and presentations for Data Office Leader, domain stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Communicate complex data topics in clear, business-friendly language.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates for governance councils and review boards.

Must‑Have Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience working in a Data Office, Data Governance, Analytics Governance, or similar central data function
  • Hands‑on exposure to data governance coordination, including interaction with Data Owners and Data Stewards
  • Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills across business and digital teams
  • Proven project management and execution discipline (action tracking, reporting, RAID management)
  • Ability to structure, document, and maintain governance artefacts and operational dashboards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated motivation and intent to work in the Data Office / Data Governance space
  • Demonstrated experience operating in global or matrix organizations

Training and coaching are intended to accelerate effectiveness, not replace foundational experience.

  • Timely completion of key activities in Data Governance, Data Delivery, and Data Privacy.
  • Improved data maturity assessments and quality KPIs across domains.
  • Demonstrable improvements in documentation, catalogue, and metadata completeness.
  • Positive feedback from Data Office Leader, Data Owners, Stewards, and project stakeholders.
  • Effective communication and transparent reporting to leadership.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Data, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field
  • 6–10 years of total professional experience, with direct exposure to:
  • Data governance / data management / Data Office operations, or
  • Analytics / BI governance or coordination roles, or
  • Digital or data programs requiring strong execution and stakeholder coordination
