DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with 4–6 years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, automation, and cost optimization. You will take full ownership of our company-wide cloud environments (primarily AWS), ensuring they are secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and SOC 2 compliant. This role will focus on AWS-based environments, enhancing observability, implementing security best practices, and using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate infrastructure-as-code and automation. You will collaborate with engineering and security teams to ensure our systems are optimized for performance, cost, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure

• Design, implement, and manage AWS-based infrastructure (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Optional exposure to GCP and Azure is a plus
• Take ownership of company-wide cloud cost optimization, including monitoring, forecasting, and reducing spend

Container Orchestration

Manage and optimize Kubernetes (K8s) clusters

Apply GitOps workflows for configuration and deployment

Infrastructure as Code

• Develop and maintain Terraform modules to provision and manage infrastructure
• Use AI tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to generate IaC templates and automation scripts

Observability & Monitoring

• Improve system observability using Grafana, Prometheus, logging, and alerting best practices
• Implement cost-aware monitoring strategies

Security & Compliance

• Apply security principles and controls to meet SOC 2 compliance requirements
• Manage secrets securely (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, etc.)

Automation & CI/CD

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless delivery using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools
• Collaboration
• Participate in cross-time-zone meetings with US/Canada teams for coordination and planning
• Mentor junior DevOps engineers and contribute to a culture of automation and efficiency

Required Qualifications:

• 4–6 years in a DevOps, Cloud Engineer, or similar role (minimum 3–5 years for mid-level candidates)
• Strong AWS expertise (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Proficiency in Kubernetes and GitOps workflows
• Solid experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or equivalent
• Strong understanding of security principles and best practices in cloud environments
• Experience contributing to compliance efforts (SOC 2 preferred)
• Proficiency with Git and modern CI/CD tools
• Experience using AI tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) for code generation and automation
• Ability to work partially aligned with US/Canada time zones

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to AWS or Azure environments
• Scripting experience in Python, Go, or Bash
• Experience with log aggregation tools (Loki, ELK Stack, etc.)
• Familiarity with incident response and disaster recovery procedures
• AwS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent certification
• FinOps certification or proven cloud cost optimization experience
