What is the role
As a DevOps Engineer at 8byte, you will own and drive infrastructure, deployment, and automation workflows across our cloud-native platform. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to build reliable, scalable, and secure systems that power our AI products for BFSI clients across India and the GCC.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who takes pride in clean infrastructure, fast deployments, and systems that don't wake you up at 3am. You will be expected to make independent technical decisions, lead improvements proactively, and hold the bar on reliability and security.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring fast and reliable delivery across environments.
- Own deployment and operations of containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes, including production environments.
- Manage and evolve cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools, primarily Terraform, with a focus on consistency, repeatability, and security.
- Drive monitoring and observability strategy using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog, and ensure meaningful alerting and incident response workflows are in place.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of infrastructure and deployment issues, reducing repeat incidents over time.
- Build and maintain automation scripts and internal tooling in Python or Bash to improve operational efficiency across teams.
- Enforce and improve security best practices across cloud infrastructure, access controls, and deployment pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to support new feature delivery without compromising system reliability.
- Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of infrastructure, runbooks, and operational processes.
Attributes
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with the following:
- 2+ years of hands-on DevOps or infrastructure engineering experience in a production environment.
- Strong working knowledge of CI/CD principles and practical experience with GitHub Actions or equivalent.
- Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including production-grade cluster management.
- Proficiency with Terraform or other IaC frameworks, with real deployments to show for it.
- Confident scripting in Python and/or Bash for automation and tooling.
- Strong working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform, preferably AWS.
- Experience setting up and managing monitoring and observability stacks.
- A security-first mindset with practical knowledge of cloud security, secrets management, and access controls.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, able to prioritise independently, and allergic to toil.
- Experience working in fast-paced startup or product environments is a strong plus.
