Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Development Engineer with strong expertise in Transformer Mechanical Design and Product Development. The candidate will be responsible for developing and improving mechanical systems, structures, and components related to transformer manufacturing while supporting engineering innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of transformer mechanical design, manufacturing processes, structural analysis, and cross-functional engineering coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve mechanical designs and engineering solutions for transformers
- Work on product enhancement, optimization, and standardization activities
- Analyze mechanical and structural design issues and provide effective solutions
- Coordinate with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Project teams for development activities
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Support new product development, prototype validation, and engineering changes
- Ensure mechanical designs meet customer specifications and engineering standards
- Drive cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders for development-related activities
- Support manufacturing teams during execution and troubleshooting activities
- Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and development records
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Transformer Mechanical Design
- Understanding of transformer tanks, structures, cooling systems, and mechanical components
- Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in design optimization and engineering improvements
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
- Exposure to CAD software such as AutoCAD, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar tools
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 8 Years of relevant experience in Transformer Mechanical Design / Development
- Experience in Power Transformer industry preferred
- Exposure to international standards and manufacturing-driven engineering environment will be an added advantage
