Detailer- Trainee

Role Description The Detailer–Trainee is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. This role involves learning and applying structural steel detailing principles under the guidance of experienced detailers, including interpreting engineering drawings, preparing 2D and 3D models, and generating shop and erection drawings. The trainee will assist in checking dimensions, connections, and material specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with project standards. Daily work includes coordinating with senior team members, updating project documentation, and using detailing software tools as part of an integrated project workflow. The role also requires maintaining organized files, meeting project timelines, and supporting quality control efforts as technical skills develop.

Qualifications

• BE or Diploma in Mechanical or Civil engineering.
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand engineering and structural drawings, basic steel structures, and construction terminology.
• Familiarity with CAD or 3D modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla, or similar) and willingness to learn specialized steel detailing software.
• Attention to detail, accuracy in measurements and documentation, and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers, senior detailers, and project coordinators.
