Job Description
The Diploma Engineer Trainee (DET. plays a crucial role in supporting the operations department by engaging in hands-on learning and executing engineering tasks under supervision. This position is designed to cultivate a strong foundation in manufacturing discipline, safety awareness, and technical skills. The DET will assist in various engineering and shop-floor activities, gaining practical experience and exposure to industry standards. The role involves learning and adhering to standard operating procedures, technical drawings, and safety protocols. The trainee will actively participate in training programs to enhance skills and prepare for future independent engineering responsibilities. This position requires a proactive approach to learning, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. The DET will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with supervisors and team members.
Principal Accountabilities
Assist engineers and supervisors in daily departmental activities by providing operational and technical support.Support the execution of production, fabrication, inspection, maintenance, or process tasks as allocated by the department.Learn and adhere to standard operating procedures SOPs, work instructions, and technical drawings.Observe and assist in the operation of machines, equipment, and material handling systems to gain practical experience.Strictly follow plant safety rules, personal protective equipment PPE requirements, and safe work practices.Participate in toolbox talks, safety inductions, and safety observations to enhance safety awareness.Adhere to quality requirements as per ISO, API, and customer standards, supporting quality checks and documentation.Gain practical exposure to manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows, learning basic troubleshooting under supervision.Actively participate in training programs, skill enhancement sessions, and evaluations to foster continuous improvement.Maintain basic records, checklists, and reports as required by the department, ensuring accurate documentation.Communicate observations, abnormalities, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.Coordinate with team members and support interdepartmental activities when assigned, promoting teamwork and collaboration.Maintain discipline, punctuality, and professional conduct, adapting to shift work and operational requirements.Perform any other duties assigned by the reporting authority related to training and development, contributing to personal and departmental growth.
