Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Desktop Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing end-user desktop support, managing IT operations, handling IT billing activities, and ensuring adherence to IT compliance standards. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining efficient and reliable IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
Desktop Support
- Provide hands-on technical support for hardware, software, and peripheral issues across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems (Windows/macOS) and standard applications.
- Respond to and resolve user-reported incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and profiles in systems such as Active Directory.
- Perform routine maintenance, system updates, and performance optimization of desktop environments.
IT Operations
- Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure to ensure the availability and performance of end-user systems.
- Support procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of IT assets.
- Coordinate with network and server teams for escalations and advanced technical troubleshooting.
- Maintain documentation of IT procedures, configurations, and incident resolutions.
IT Billing
- Track and manage IT-related expenses including hardware purchases, software licenses, and subscriptions.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for procurement and invoice processing.
- Prepare reports related to IT spending, budget utilization, and future IT requirements.
IT Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal IT policies and industry compliance frameworks.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure systems and processes meet security and compliance standards.
- Assist in implementing data protection measures and monitoring compliance-related risks.
- Stay updated with industry regulations and implement necessary compliance updates.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2–6 years of experience in Desktop Support / IT Operations roles.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with IT asset management and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with IT compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or GDPR.
- Hands-on experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools for incident and ticket management.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective end-user support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
- Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with remote support tools and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.
- Exposure to IT budgeting and financial tracking tools.
