Key Responsibilities:
Civil Design and Consultation:
- Develop detailed civil engineering designs for infrastructure projects such as roads, drainage systems, bridges, foundations, and earthworks.
- Provide design solutions for civil structures, ensuring they are cost-effective, functional, and compliant with local codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare design calculations, material specifications, and construction drawings, ensuring that they meet project requirements and safety guidelines.
- Perform geotechnical, hydraulic, and structural analysis for design optimization and to meet project specifications.
Project Coordination and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural) to ensure civil design integration and alignment with project goals.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing expert consultation and responding to technical queries related to civil design.
- Attend project meetings and participate in technical discussions to ensure that the civil engineering aspects are properly represented.
- Assist in reviewing project plans and providing recommendations for design improvements or alterations based on client feedback and site conditions.
Design Documentation and Reporting:
- Create, update, and maintain detailed design documentation, including CAD drawings, technical reports, and project specifications.
- Review and ensure all documentation complies with internal standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare project presentations and reports for clients and stakeholders, outlining design concepts, progress, challenges, and solutions.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure that all civil designs comply with local, national, and international codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, BS, etc.).
- Review designs for safety, sustainability, and environmental impact, ensuring that they align with both client needs and regulatory requirements.
- Implement quality control measures throughout the design process to ensure high-quality design outputs and adherence to project schedules.
Site Evaluation and Support:
- Conduct site visits and surveys to assess existing conditions and gather data required for the design process.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, ensuring that designs are correctly implemented and addressing any issues that arise on-site.
- Perform inspections to verify that the civil work aligns with design specifications, resolving any discrepancies or design-related issues that may arise during construction.
Innovation and Sustainability:
- Recommend innovative and sustainable civil design practices that contribute to environmental sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term infrastructure performance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in civil engineering and design software.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in the design and construction process and provide proactive solutions to mitigate these risks.
- Assess design feasibility, including potential environmental impacts, constructability, and long-term performance, ensuring projects are delivered within scope, budget, and timeline.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 4-6 years of experience in civil design, with a strong background in the design of roads, drainage systems, bridges, or other civil infrastructure projects.
Skills:
- Proficiency in civil design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of civil design principles, including geotechnical, structural, and hydraulic analysis.
- Familiarity with local and international civil engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
- Solid understanding of construction methods and project management processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
