Design Teacher – IB School (PYP / MYP Programme)
Job Profile
A Design Teacher in an International Baccalaureate school facilitates inquiry-based and interdisciplinary learning through creativity, innovation, design thinking, and practical problem-solving. The role includes developing students skills in digital design, product design, innovation, research, and project-based learning aligned with IB philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Design lessons for PYP/MYP students as per IB framework.
- Foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Teach concepts such as:
- Design Cycle
- Product Design
- Digital Design
- Innovation & Prototyping
- Coding / Robotics / ICT integration (where applicable)
- Develop hands-on and inquiry-driven classroom activities.
- Guide students in projects, portfolios, exhibitions, and presentations.
- Integrate STEAM and interdisciplinary learning approaches.
- Assess and document student progress using IB assessment practices.
- Maintain Design Lab / Makerspace resources and safety norms.
- Collaborate with Homeroom Teachers and subject specialists for integrated learning.
- Participate in school events, exhibitions, workshops, and professional development.
Pre-requisites / Eligibility
- Bachelor's Degree in Design / Engineering / Architecture / Fine Arts / Product Design / ICT / Technology or related field.
- B.Ed. or teaching qualification preferred.
- IB PYP/MYP training or experience preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years of teaching experience in Design / ICT / STEM / Robotics / Innovation Labs.
- Knowledge of:
- Design Thinking
- CAD / Digital Tools
- Coding basics
- Robotics / 3D Design / Multimedia tools (preferred)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to create an inquiry-based and student-centric learning environment.
- Proficiency in technology integration and project-based learning methodologies.
Preferred Skills
- Creativity and innovation mindset.
- Exposure to Makerspace / ATL / STEM Labs.
- Collaborative and reflective teaching approach.
- Excellent presentation and mentoring abilities.
- International school experience preferred.
