About CNIM Singapore Private Limited
CNIM Singapore Private Limited is a leading provider of integrated engineering solutions within the lift, escalator, and passenger conveyor industry. Specializing in major public transport (e.g., LTA infrastructure projects), commercial installations, refurbishment, and long-term maintenance, we are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and energy-efficient vertical mobility solutions.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Design Manager to lead our engineering and design team, oversee technical design submissions, ensure compliance with local Singapore codes, and bridge client requirement specs with execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering & Technical Design Leadership
- Lead and manage the overall design process for Lifts, Escalators, and Moving Walkways across new installation, modernization, and public infrastructure projects.
- Review and approve structural, mechanical, electrical, and control system design drawings, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.
- Develop customized engineering solutions for complex spatial and architectural constraints, particularly for public transport and heavy-duty infrastructure projects.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Code Adherence
- Ensure all designs strictly comply with Singapore's regulatory standards, including Building and Construction Authority (BCA) regulations, Code of Practice for Lifts and Escalators (SS 550 / SS 560), Fire Safety Regulations (SCDF), and LTA Architectural/Engineering specifications.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact during authority submissions, audits, and third-party Professional Engineer (PE) reviews.
3. Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Factories, and R&D teams to translate project specifications into accurate engineering deliverables.
- Liaise directly with clients, architects, main contractors, consultants, and relevant government authorities (e.g., LTA, BCA) to resolve technical queries (RFIs) and design discrepancies.
- Conduct value engineering and risk assessments to ensure cost-efficient design without compromising safety, quality, or contract compliance.
4. Factory & Technical Support
- Coordinate with regional manufacturing plants/suppliers regarding equipment design specs, custom components, and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
- Provide technical design support during installation, testing & commissioning (T&C), and post-installation troubleshooting.
5. Company Guidelines & Process Improvement
- Establish, update, and maintain internal design engineering guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Quality Assurance (QA) standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in design workflows, BIM adoption, CAD standardizations, and digital documentation systems.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Civil Engineering recognized by PE Board Singapore.
- Experience: Minimum 6-8 years of technical design experience in the Lift & Escalator industry, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or team lead capacity.
- Regulatory Expertise: Strong familiarity with BCA, SCDF, LTA Design & Material Specifications (D&MS), SS 550, SS 560, and EN 115 / EN 81 standards.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on mastery of AutoCAD, BIM / Revit, 3D modeling software, and MS Office.
- Language Capabilities: Proficient in English (spoken and written). Fluent in written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin) is a strong advantage to effectively liaise with Mandarin-speaking factory teams, technical suppliers, and overseas vendors.
