Job Description
Directs & manages the design function to ensure business & brand objectives. Creates designs that are saleable, producable, and profitable
The role involves directing and managing three distinct womenswear brandsAsh and Eden (modern & elevated artisanal wear), Playa Lucila (beach to street wear), and Celina Moon (everyday wear for the modern woman).
Key Responsibilities
- Sales and gross margin objectives for each brand - jointly held with business development and operations
- Customer satisfaction - and customer growth

Key Performance Indicators
Design Strategy & Leadership
- Drive the triad: Designs that Sell, Designs that are Profitable, and Designs that are Producible
- Establishes a clear and repeatable process for creative decision-making that links design development with communication, production, profitability, and brand goals.
- Leads the seasonal creative concepting across brands through co-creation, moodboarding, and trend synthesis adapted to each brand's identity.
- Drives collaborative ideation, ensuring all designs support sustainable and responsible fashion practices.
- Partner closely with the Buyers to finalize SKU plans for each collection
Customer Growth
- Ensuring the brands grow in market share.
- Grow customers aligned to strategy - BUBO - customised to retailers
Team Development & Leadership
- Manages and mentors an agile design team including fabric specialists and freelance co-designers across geographies.
- Sets clear goals, fosters creative excellence, and navigates team dynamics through proactive conflict resolution.
Process Excellence
- Understand the selling calendar of various retailers and align the design calendar and the design process to maximise sellability
- Hold the design process from conception to customisation
- Ensures an efficient workflow from design to sample approval with strict adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Implements digital and physical systems to streamline collection planning and development.
- Lead the design calendar and ensure timely delivery of tech packs, print artworks, BOMs, and fit approvals
Product Innovation & Quality Assurance
- Builds quality checkpoints throughout the design process to uphold brand fit standards, aesthetic integrity, and production feasibility.
- Champions innovation in core silhouettes, functional trims, and low-waste patternmaking techniques.
Financial Sustainability & Merchandise Alignment
- Partners with merchandising to ensure each design is profitable, utilizes core fabrics, and supports efficient inventory management.
- Aligns product creation with pricing strategy, ensuring margin targets are met without compromising design vision.
Communication
- Holding the brand language across all communication to customers across touch points
- Brand communication that will enhance the product experience
Product Development
- Oversees the timely delivery of high-quality CADs & samples, ensuring each piece meets both creative and commercial benchmarks.
- Works closely with vendors to uphold the integrity of original designs while adapting for manufacturability.
Design Analytics
- Identifying opportunities for re-cuts based on analysing sales data.
- Monitoring weekly sales data across all brands
- Generating design insights for designers based on sales data.
- What categories, bodies, colors, prints, value addition techniques that work and do not work
- Identifying product gaps based on sales interactions.
