Job Summary
We are hiring a Design Lead to own UX quality, UI quality, design consistency, and
customer centric product experience across BYLD's platforms and new SaaS products. This is a true product design leadership role. You will set design direction, build and coach a small team of product designers and researchers, and personally lead design on the most important product flows. You will also establish strong
Voice of Customer (VoC) practices to ensure real user insights continuously shape product decisions. You will own and build BYLD's design system from the ground up. This is not a slideware or review only role. You are expected to be deeply hands on.
Key Responsibilities
- Own UX, UI Quality, and Voice of Customer Across All Products
- Set UX principles, interaction standards, and visual direction.
- Define what good design means at BYLD, grounded in real customer needs.
- Establish structured Voice of Customer mechanisms such as user interviews, feedback loops, usability testing, and journey reviews.
- Regularly synthesize customer feedback into clear design and product recommendations.
- Review and raise the quality bar for all major product flows.
- Ensure consistency across Platforms and SaaS.
- Own and enforce UX and UI standards across all products.
- Have final decision authority on UX and UI quality for major workflows.
- Be accountable for usability, clarity, and customer satisfaction, not just aesthetics.
- Lead Product Design for Platforms (Today's Revenue Engine)
- Simplify complex HR, ops, and compliance workflows using customer insights.
- Identify friction points through user feedback and behavioral data.
- Reduce user errors, task time, and operational friction.
- Support standardization and reduction of custom workflows.
- Improve internal and client facing UX based on real usage patterns.
- Your work here directly impacts margins, efficiency, and customer trust.
- Lead Product Design for SaaS (Future Growth Engine)
- Design onboarding and activation flows informed by customer behavior and feedback.
- Continuously test and refine journeys based on Voice of Customer inputs.
- Improve engagement, retention, and conversion.
- Prototype and validate new product ideas with users.
- Partner with Product and Growth on monetization UX.
- Your work here directly impacts product market fit and adoption.
- Own and Build the Design System
- Create and maintain BYLD's design system.
- Define UI components, patterns, spacing, typography, and color usage.
- Ensure the system supports accessibility, usability, and customer clarity.
- Standardize interaction patterns and layouts.
- Ensure designers and engineers reuse components.
- Continuously evolve the system based on user feedback and product maturity.
- Be the single owner of design consistency.
- Be Hands On on Critical Product Work
- Personally design key workflows and high impact flows.
- Lead by example through strong craft and user centric thinking.
- Jump into Figma when quality, speed, or clarity matters.
- Prototype ideas for discovery, experiments, and customer validation.
- Actively participate in user testing and feedback sessions.
- Build and Manage the Design Team
- Hire and coach product designers and researchers.
- Build strong customer empathy within the team.
- Create clear roles, expectations, and growth paths.
- Run design critiques and feedback sessions with user context.
- Build a culture of listening to customers and learning continuously.
- Drive Discovery, Research, and Voice of Customer Programs
- Partner with Product Managers on discovery and problem validation.
- Design and manage ongoing VoC programs including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and feedback analysis.
- Ensure customer insights are documented, shared, and acted upon.
- Validate problems before solutions are built.
- Bring real user stories into roadmap and prioritization discussions.
- Partner Deeply with Product, Growth, and Engineering
- Work daily with Heads of Product and PMs.
- Translate product strategy and customer insight into UX direction.
- Support activation, retention, onboarding, and upsell UX.
- Improve handoff quality to engineering.
- Represent customer perspective in cross functional decision making.
- Act as the final design arbiter when opinions conflict.
What You Will Not Do
- Act as a UI ticket taker.
- Design in isolation from customer feedback.
- Only review screens made by others.
- Work in isolation from Product and Engineering.
- Focus only on branding or marketing creatives.
Required Experience
- 8 to 10 years of experience in product or UX design.
- At least 3 years in a design leadership or senior IC role.
- Strong experience designing complex B2B or SaaS products.
- Experience building or owning a design system.
- Hands on experience with user research and feedback programs.
- Experience working closely with Product Managers and Engineers.
- Strong portfolio showing end to end product thinking.
- Experience in HR tech, fintech, or enterprise software.
- Experience in early stage or zero to one products.
- Experience running usability labs or continuous research programs.
