Job Title: Design Engineer

Reports To: Head – Design, PIPL
Location: Goa
To support product improvement and manufacturing efficiency at the Goa plant by addressing design-related issues in
Line Pumps and Boom Pumps, based on production challenges and field feedback. The role bridges the gap between design and production by providing on-site engineering solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring design intent is maintained throughout the assembly and manufacturing processes.
- Key Responsibilities
- Product & Process Improvement
- Analyze and act on feedback from production and field teams to improve the performance and manufacturability of existing products.
- Address design-related concerns in assembly, focusing on Line Pumps and Boom Pumps.
- Collaborate with the quality and service teams to identify recurring issues in field-deployed equipment and develop corrective actions.
- Production Support & Design Alignment
- Ensure that assembly processes align with original design specifications; identify and document any deviations.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of production and service issues; recommend design modifications as needed.
- Drive cost, quality, and safety improvements by supporting production with design-based solutions.
- Value Engineering (VAVE) & Innovation
- Identify and propose Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) opportunities to reduce cost and improve performance.
- Take initiative to implement approved ideas in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including CAD drawings, process maps, assembly guidelines, and design standards.
- Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Cross-functional Coordination
- Work in close sync with the Pune-based design team to ensure seamless flow of design updates and revisions.
- Act as the design representative in production meetings and improvement initiatives.
- Support for New Product Development (NPD)
- Provide hands-on support during NPD trials and ramp-ups at the Goa facility.
- Assist in transitioning new designs from R&D to production, ensuring manufacturability.
- Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a design or manufacturing support role
- Preferred industry: Heavy machinery, construction equipment, or related manufacturing sectors
Certifications
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as Solid Edge and AutoCAD
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is an advantage
