Design Engineer

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Design Engineer role based in Coimbatore. The Design Engineer will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing mechanical and electro-mechanical components for solar panel cleaning robots, with a focus on reliability, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness. Day-to-day tasks include creating and updating detailed CAD models and drawings, performing basic engineering calculations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine product requirements. The role involves building and testing prototypes, analyzing test data, and iterating designs to meet performance and safety standards. The Design Engineer will also support documentation, work closely with manufacturing and suppliers, and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the product portfolio.

A prior work experience in Solar Panel Cleaning Robots design / engineering is a must.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in core engineering disciplines such as Design Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, drafting, and design documentation.
• Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts relevant to electro-mechanical products and systems.
• Experience or interest in Product Design, including usability, reliability, and manufacturability considerations.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or a related engineering field.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, standards, and specifications, and apply engineering best practices.
• Hands-on approach to prototyping, testing, and problem-solving, ideally in hardware or product development environments.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and manufacturing partners.
• Motivation to work in the renewable energy sector and contribute to innovation in solar technologies.
• Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and basic tolerance analysis is an advantage.
