Position-- Sr. Design Engineer – LV Division

Department: Design & Engineering – LV Division

Designation: Sr. Design Engineer

Salary: 80,000 – 1,20,000 per month, depending on experience and expertise

Reporting To: Head – LV Division / Design Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Design & Engineering

• Read and interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLD), schematic diagrams and customer specifications.
• Understand customer requirements, technical specifications, applicable standards and project-specific design requirements.
• Develop electrical designs for LV switchboards, PCC/MCC panels, DBs, APFC panels, AMF/ATS panels and other LV assemblies.
• Prepare and review SLDs, control schematics, wiring diagrams and interconnection drawings.
• Select appropriate electrical components such as ACBs, MCCBs, contactors, relays, meters, CTs, protection devices, busbars and other accessories.

2. GA & Manufacturing Drawings

• Prepare detailed General Arrangement (GA) drawings for LV panels.
• Prepare panel layouts, component mounting arrangements, busbar arrangements and cable entry/termination details.
• Prepare detailed fabrication and assembly drawings in coordination with the production team.
• Ensure drawings are practical from the perspective of manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation and maintenance.

3. BOM & Technical Documentation

• Prepare accurate and detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) based on approved designs.
• Prepare material specifications and component schedules.
• Ensure correct selection and quantity of components, hardware, busbars, enclosures and accessories.
• Coordinate with Purchase for technical clarification and component selection wherever required.
• Maintain design documentation and revision control.

4. Customer & Project Engineering

• Study customer-approved drawings, specifications and technical documents.
• Incorporate customer comments and prepare revised drawings.
• Provide technical clarifications to Sales/Projects and customers.
• Support preparation of technical offers and engineering documents during the tender/order stage.
• Ensure designs comply with customer requirements and relevant IEC/IS standards.

5. Coordination with Plant Functions

• Work closely with Production, Purchase, Quality, Testing and Project/Sales teams.
• Resolve design-related issues arising during manufacturing and testing.
• Visit the shop floor when required to ensure drawings are correctly implemented.
• Make design modifications based on manufacturing or testing feedback.

6. Design Optimization

• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, standardization and design optimization without compromising quality or performance.
• Develop standard LV panel designs and reusable engineering templates.
• Optimize panel dimensions, busbar arrangements, component selection and manufacturing processes.

Required Technical Skills

The candidate should have hands-on proficiency in:

• AutoCAD – mandatory
• SolidWorks – mandatory
• E3 / EPLAN-type electrical design software – Mandatory
• Preparation and interpretation of SLDs and electrical schematics
• Knowledge of IEC/IS standards applicable to LV switchboards

Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• technical expertise and suitability for the role.

Work Location

• Bhiwadi Plant/Gurgaon location
• The position is primarily plant-based and requires close interaction with the manufacturing, testing and engineering teams.

Desired Experience

• Experience: 5–10 years in LV electrical panel/switchboard design and engineering.
• Experience in a switchgear manufacturing company / panel manufacturing industry will be preferred.
• Candidates with strong practical knowledge of LV panel manufacturing will be given preference.
