We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer who specializes in tooling/mold design. As a key member of our engineering team, you would be Independently responsible for Plastic Injection Mold design, in-lining with Automation tooling design for DSS (Datacom & Specialty Solutions) products using siemens NX software, executing new designs, modifications, 3D/2D creations, BOM & setup sheet creation and process optimization that meet or exceed product performance specifications per internal Molex standards, industry standards or customer specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Injection molding process, scientific injection molding, defect mitigation, machining/manufacturing operations knowledge, excellent CAD (UG NX) skills and deep understanding of various plastic parts & electromechanical components.

Our Team

This team provides mold, die, automation, jigs and fixture system design and mold-flow-simulation and other engineering related services to Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division's stakeholders who are located at Molex sites across the globe. This open position will be part of this engineering team at Molex India Business Services.

What You Will Do

  • Provide Mold tooling design, manufacturing and automation tooling adhering to our design standards using Siemens NX & PLM software, within DSS BUs that meet or exceed customer expectations. Design includes all aspects of tooling such as mold tooling design, automation Pallet design, assembly tooling, fixtures, by 3D Modeling, 2D Drafting, BOM (Bill Of Material) creation, assembly setup chart, engineering changes, document release, GD&T, tolerance analysis, process optimization, tooling debug, hot runner design etc.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of material costs and manufacturing processes to determine the impact on various design attributes and to support DFM & manufacturing processes setup. Provides input to the DFMEA analysis to the product designer as required.
  • Collaborates with global manufacturing engineering (Process Engineers & MIEs/DPEs) and Automation tool designers to execute the projects utilizing the latest 3D CAD modeling techniques, PLM software (Teamcenter/ECTR) and other DFM tools following Molex internal process.
  • Focus on systematic and cost-effective approach design to Support mold tooling & Automation related tooling projects from development of POCs (proof of concept) through mass production.
  • Manage and organize CAD files, revision levels, design reviews, cross-functional meetings and provide technical insights and recommendations for design improvements.
  • Proactively seek knowledge, retain learnings, create/maintain design standards and best practice documents along with peers.
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written, that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Understand, support and contribute to Molex culture of Principle Based Management
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical
  • 4-6 years working experience in mold design for Plastic parts and cable/sheet metal overmolds
  • Handled a good number of projects independently in Plastic Injection Molding (including Runner-Gate system design, part feasibility test, draft analysis, core-cavity extraction, etc)
  • Good working knowledge in tooling design especially automation pallet, fixtures, jigs etc
  • Ability to detail your design through 2D drawings, applications of GD&T symbols, manufacturing tolerances etc.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing process, machining operations, sheet metal tooling, and assembly processes
  • Machine shop exposure and hands on experience of certain machining processes
  • Proficient in using Siemens NX to generate 3D models & 2D drafting
  • Material and manufacturing knowledge of plastics, sheet metal & machined components
  • Working Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis, limits & Fits, ASME Y14.5
  • Understanding of product/tool DFM, DFA and DFX techniques
  • Designing plastic and sheet metal components and related tooling

What Will Put You Ahead


  • Master's/Additional qualification in Design/Manufacturing/Tool & Die engineering from NTTF, CIPET or similar institutes
  • 4+ years in Design Engineering function engaged in mold design, automation tooling and fixture systems
  • Should possess working knowledge of Injection Molding for electromechanical parts, cable & sheet metal overmolding.
  • Knowledge in polymer selection for injection molding
  • Good knowledge and understanding about tooling materials and selection.
