We are seeking an innovative and experienced Automotive Lighting Design Lead to spearhead the design, development, and successful launch of next-generation lighting systems across our vehicle portfolio

Role Description

• As a key leader within the design and engineering organization, you will own the end-to-end product development lifecycle—from concept creation and prototype validation to testing, industrialization, and SOP. This role requires balancing brand differentiation, technical excellence, cost competitiveness, and regulatory compliance, while working closely with cross-functional teams and strategic supplier partners.

Role Description

Lead the end-to-end design and development of automotive lighting products, from concept generation through validation and production, ensuring compliance with design, performance, regulatory, and testing standards.

Identify market trends, customer requirements, and emerging lighting technologies to drive innovative and competitive lighting concepts.

Possess strong knowledge of global homologation requirements, including ECE, FMVSS, CCC, and AIS standards.

Lead cross-functional collaboration with Design, Electrical & Electronics, vehicle integration, quality, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to ensure system-level optimization and first-time-right products.

Manage and drive multiple new product development (NPD) projects, defining timelines, tracking milestones, managing resources, and ensuring adherence to cost, quality, and delivery targets.

Prepare detailed CAD designs, perform FEA checks, and optimize designs for performance, reliablity, durability, and manufacturability.

Support prototype build and validation, working with cross-functional engineering teams to conduct functional, safety, performance, and regulatory testing.

Demonstrate strong technical knowledge in LED technologies, electronics, optical systems, materials, and thermal management for automotive lighting applications

Lead IP strategy for lighting systems, including FTO assessments, patent evaluations, and homologation readiness for new technologies

Drive supplier development and localization initiatives, including LED sourcing, optics, plastics, and electronics, ensuring cost control without compromising quality and field reliability

Establish and enforce design governance including DFMEA, DVP, ETR, FDR, and drawing release processes in line with organizational quality gates.
