Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Design:
- Design electrical systems for various projects, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and communication systems.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools).
- Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and fault current calculations to ensure proper system design.
- Develop design documentation, specifications, and technical reports to support project requirements.
Design Coordination and Integration:
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural) to ensure proper integration of electrical systems into the overall design.
- Ensure that designs meet all relevant standards and codes, including national electrical codes (NEC) and local building regulations.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure that electrical systems align with client needs, project goals, and industry standards.
Technical Analysis and Problem-Solving:
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and performance evaluations of electrical systems and components.
- Analyze system performance and suggest improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
- Troubleshoot electrical system issues during design, testing, and installation, providing innovative solutions to resolve problems.
Project Management and Support:
- Assist in the preparation of project timelines, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely completion of electrical designs.
- Support project management teams in managing scope, budget, and client expectations.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, reviewing contractor submittals, attending site meetings, and resolving design-related issues.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure that all designs adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
- Conduct design verification, quality assurance, and testing to ensure that electrical systems meet performance criteria.
- Review and approve electrical design documents, ensuring they comply with relevant codes and regulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including design calculations, drawings, reports, and correspondence.
- Prepare electrical design packages for clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Document design changes, ensuring proper version control and approval throughout the project lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical design and engineering.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of design standards and processes to improve efficiency and quality within the team.
- Recommend and implement innovative design solutions to meet evolving client needs and project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with experience in designing electrical systems for commercial, industrial, or residential projects.
Skills:
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, electrical codes, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Experience with electrical load calculations, fault current analysis, and system design verification.
