Role Summary
We are looking for a skilled Brake Design Engineer to support New Product Development (NPD) activities for EV electric tippers and tractor-trailer (TT) platforms. The role involves brake system selection, parameter definition, CAD design, packaging, validation, and release of engineering data through PLM systems. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including vehicle integration, testing, sourcing, and manufacturing to ensure reliable, safe, and cost-effective brake system integration for electric commercial vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Lead brake system design and development during NPD for EV electric tippers and tractor-trailers (TT).
- Perform brake system selection and parameter setting based on vehicle performance, load capacity, and safety requirements.
- Support system integration and design validation with reference vehicle benchmarks and regulatory requirements.
- Develop 3D models and assemblies using Creo for EV brake system components.
- Perform CAD design, packaging, and routing of brake components such as brake calipers, brake discs/drums, master cylinders, brake lines, hoses, and related mounting brackets.
- Ensure design feasibility considering EV vehicle architecture, battery pack layout, chassis structure, and space constraints.
- Support design verification and testing activities including brake performance, durability, and safety validation.
- Work with testing teams to analyze results, resolve design issues, and achieve required braking performance targets.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings with GD&T standards for production readiness.
- Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) for brake system assemblies.
- Manage engineering design release through PLM systems, ensuring proper documentation, version control, and change management.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, vehicle integration, and testing teams for smooth product development.
- Support supplier technical discussions, component development, and brake system component finalization.
