Design Engineer

As Senior Mechanical Engineer you are responsible to Design and Development of Offerings for mining equipments, create CAD models/ manufacturing drawings, BOM for sub-systems used in mining equipments, Data validation and kit creation support, offering requirements and to ensure the quality of drawings produced by Design Engineers. The job is about providing engineering support to various PDCs within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions in Parts and Services divisions for Aftermarket needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with portfolio and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions.
• Keep up to date with the latest technology trends.
• Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
• Involved in design developing underground, surface mining equipments.
• Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design.
• Creation of BOM / ECN for release of drawings for production
• Perform design calculations for design verification
• Develop sub-system kit designs and make component selections
• Perform engineering related activities like supplier interaction, field visits
• Provide engineering support to aftermarket teams
• Strong in Fundamental Mechanical Engineering
• Strong in Mechanics Design calculations
• Creative thinker this should lead to applying Patents for the Company
• Proficient in material selection depending on the application, fix proper heat treatment process, GDT.
• Drives the organization to expand the technical knowledge base within mechanical engineering area Sandvik-wide.
• Uses computer-based tools (NX, Teamcenter, Adobe illustrator) to design or modify the design of a product.
• Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials, and planner for offering teams.
