About the role:
We are looking for a mechanically strong Design and Product Development Engineer to join our product development team. You will work across the full design cycle - from concept sketches and hand calculations through detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, prototype builds, and field testing. You will be expected to think analytically, justify your designs with numbers, and iterate quickly based on real-world feedback.
What you will do:
- Design mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies for agricultural machines: structural frames, drive systems, conveyor mechanisms, cutting assemblies, and collection systems
- Perform engineering calculations to size components and validate designs before fabrication: forces, torques, stresses, deflections, fatigue, and power requirements
- Develop 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using parametric CAD; apply GD&T for fabrication clarity
- Select standard components — bearings, chains, sprockets, fasteners, seals, motors — using manufacturer catalogues and relevant IS / BS / ISO standards
- Work directly with the fabrication workshop to resolve manufacturing constraints, review first-article parts, and close the loop between drawing and metal
- Participate in prototype testing in field conditions; identify failure modes, document findings, and implement design changes
- Maintain structured calculation sheets, design records, and BOM documentation as part of the NPD process
What we are looking for:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, M.Tech. in Engineering Design from a recognised institution
- 2 to 3 years of experience in mechanical product design, machine design, or equipment engineering
- Strong analytical foundation in Engineering Mechanics (EM): ability to construct free body diagrams, analyze static and dynamic systems, resolve forces in mechanisms, and calculate power and torque through multi-stage drive trains
- Strong analytical foundation in Strength of Materials (SOM): confident in stress and strain calculations, beam bending, torsional shear, column buckling, contact stress, and fatigue life estimation using standard criteria such as Goodman or Soderberg
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or equivalent parametric CAD; exposure to FEA simulation (ANSYS, or equivalent) is an advantage
- Ability to read engineering standards and apply them practically to material selection, tolerancing, and component specification
What we offer:
- Direct ownership of design work that reaches hardware within weeks, not years
- A portfolio that spans multiple domains — structures, mechanisms, drives, and materials — rather than one narrow vertical
- Close collaboration with a senior engineering team and direct visibility of design decisions and their real-world outcomes
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
- The opportunity to be part of building something genuinely new in agricultural technology
Note: Probationary Period will be 6 months, extendable depending upon your progress.
