Job Description: Deputy Officer/ Officer – General Ledger (GL Section)
Location: Padi, Chennai
Department: Corporate Finance & Accounts
Qualification: Qualified CA
Experience: 0 - 3 Years
Role Purpose:
To support the General Ledger (GL) Section in consolidation of accounts, management reporting, sustainability-related data collation, and product profitability analysis. The role will strengthen the team's capability amid increased data requirements, system enhancement projects, and upcoming resource constraints, ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Consolidation & Accounting
• Assist in consolidation of accounts across business units and entities.
• Support month-end closing activities including review of GL balances, accruals, and schedules.
• Coordinate with units to ensure consistency in accounting practices and timely data submission.
B. MIS & Management Reporting
• Prepare and support Management MIS, including:
A. Monthly financial statements
B. Variance analysis vs. budget and previous periods
C. Cost and margin analysis
• Contribute to Quarterly Board Reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to timelines.
C. System Enhancement & Process Support
• Support ongoing and upcoming system initiatives.
• Assist in data testing, reconciliation, and stabilization during system upgrades or migrations.
• Document process steps, help strengthen internal controls, and recommend improvements.
D. Team & Operational Support
• Provide continuity support considering likely long leave of key team member.
• Relieve the GL lead from routine operational work so he can focus on value-added tasks such as automation, analytics, and process improvements.
• Ensure smooth monthly closing by coordinating with internal stakeholders and auditors as required.
Skills & Competencies Technical Skills
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, GL processes, and consolidation.
• Proficiency in Excel (advanced level preferred) and comfort working with ERP systems.
• Working knowledge of financial reporting & MIS frameworks. Behavioral & Analytical Skills
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables with time sensitivity.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Proactive and capable of working with limited supervision.
