Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of tooling/fixture designers and process/technology engineers (coaching, task allocation, performance follow-up).
- Plan and prioritize tooling/fixture and manufacturing technology activities in line with production needs.
- Design and develop innovative tooling and fixturing to improve fabrication of subassemblies and assemblies of railway wagons, or any other equipment in heavy engineering.
- Develop welding fixtures and Go/No-Go gauges.
- Ensure tooling/fixture designs are cost-effective, efficient, safe, and meet all technical requirements.
- Design tooling/fixtures primarily in 3D using SolidWorks; create detailed 2D drawings/detailing as required for manufacturing.
- Use AutoCAD for shopfloor layout drawings and DXF creation/editing to support manufacturing.
- Create and release detailed drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions for tooling and fixtures (including material specifications).
- Drive cross-functional coordination with Production, Quality, Design and Supply Chain to implement tooling, fixtures, and process improvements on the shopfloor.
- Define and standardize manufacturing processes and work instructions/SOPs for fabrication and assembly activities.
- Support new projects and changes through process/tooling risk assessment and implementation planning.
- Coordinate with suppliers for tooling/fixture manufacturing: technical clarifications, progress follow-up, deadline control, acceptance and documentation handover.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing staff to troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and quality assurance processes, including calibration/verification of tools and fixtures, inspection of fixtures for defects/wear, and implementation of corrective actions when issues are found.
- Provide technical master data inputs for SAP related to tooling and manufacturing technology (e.g., tooling lists, routings/process steps, specifications/documents as applicable).
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; Diploma holders may be considered with strong relevant experience.
- 812 years experience in tooling/fixture design and manufacturing technology for heavy engineering/welded fabrication, including minimum 24 years of team leadership.
