Key Responsibilities
- Review and submission of the indirect tax returns, balance sheet account reconciliations, payment and refund requests, etc, in a timely and accurate manner in EMEA
- Monitor changes in indirect tax regulations, understanding and assessing their impact on the compliance process, make any necessary changes and ensure any changes/improvements to process/ERP are implemented
- Identify and take ownership in projects on Indirect tax related matters or any legal or process or business changes
- Identify the stakeholders, set the project goals, actions and target. Follow up on progress and apply effective control points. Drive and support automation initiatives.
- Manage any audits (internal or external) and work to ensure all documentation is prepared and reviewed in line with the set deadlines
- Work with outsourced provider where relevant and work with other Indirect Tax Team members or other Viatris departments, to resolve any issues
- Maintain a solid understanding of the overall market, business, and operations of the company
- Present updates to various stakeholders and liaise with them to address business risks
Qualification and Experience
- 6 to 8 years of indirect tax experience, highly preferably in a mix of public accounting and multinational corporate environment in US, EU and/or India processes
- Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance (or equivalent). Pursuing/Holding a master's degree in accounting/finance/business or CA, CPA, CMA, CS, etc would be an added advantage
- Project management skills would come in handy to excel in the responsibilities assigned
- Hands on experience on SAP would be an advantage
- A self-starter and a quick learner will thrive in this role
- Strong aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements, new technologies and tools.
- Operational knowledge on Indirect Tax regulations
- Strong technical and financial report writing ability. Project management expertise
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Excellent skills in MS Office
- Strong skills in data analysis, root cause identification, problem-solving and decision making as well as execution
