Position Title

Lead Solution Design Architect - Digital Control Automation

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead Solution Design Architect - Digital Control Automation to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of advanced digital automation and control solutions for industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, and infrastructure environments.

The role is responsible for developing integrated automation architectures that combine PLC/SCADA systems, industrial IoT, digital monitoring, analytics, robotics, MES/WMS/WCS integration, and smart manufacturing technologies. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in industrial control systems, digital transformation, Industry 4.0 technologies, and multidisciplinary automation project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & System Design

  • Lead end-to-end design and architecture development for digital control automation systems including:
    • PLC/SCADA automation
    • Smart factory systems
    • Industrial IoT (IIoT)
    • Digital monitoring and analytics platforms
    • Warehouse and logistics automation
    • Robotics and motion control systems
    • MES/WMS/WCS integration
    • Process and manufacturing automation
  • Develop automation philosophies, control architecture, digital system frameworks, and integration strategies.
  • Define scalable and secure system architectures for industrial automation and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Analyze customer requirements and convert them into optimized technical solutions.
  • Prepare functional design specifications, control narratives, system layouts, network architecture, and interface documentation.

Controls & Digital Integration

  • Define integration architecture between:
    • PLCs
    • SCADA/HMI systems
    • MES/ERP systems
    • Industrial databases
    • Cloud platforms
    • IoT gateways
    • AI/analytics systems
  • Design industrial communication networks using:
    • Profinet
    • Ethernet/IP
    • OPC UA
    • Modbus TCP/IP
    • MQTT
  • Ensure cybersecurity, redundancy, reliability, and high availability of automation systems.
  • Lead digitalization initiatives including remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data-driven automation.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams including:
    • Controls engineers
    • PLC programmers
    • Electrical engineers
    • Software developers
    • Mechanical engineers
    • Commissioning teams
  • Review technical designs, automation strategies, and system integration approaches.
  • Conduct design reviews, technical risk assessments, and value engineering activities.
  • Establish engineering standards, reusable architectures, and best practices.
  • Mentor engineering teams and support technical capability development.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Participate in customer discussions, technical workshops, and solution presentations.
  • Support business development teams with technical proposals and pre-sales activities.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, system integrators, and technology partners.
  • Manage technical communication with customers during project execution.

Project Execution & Commissioning Support

  • Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure timely delivery of engineering design and project milestones.
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and system optimization activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and integration issues.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive innovation in:
    • Industry 4.0
    • Smart manufacturing
    • AI-enabled automation
    • Digital twin technologies
    • Industrial analytics
    • Cloud-enabled automation systems
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic implementation approaches.
  • Develop standardized engineering frameworks and digital automation methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial automation, digital control systems, or smart manufacturing solutions.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale automation and digital transformation projects.

Required Technical Skills

    • Cybersecurity standards for OT systems
  • Familiarity with:
    • AI/ML applications in automation
    • Predictive maintenance systems
    • Digital twin and simulation tools

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in manufacturing, warehouse automation, logistics, automotive, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Exposure to smart factory and digital transformation programs.
  • Knowledge of international standards such as IEC, ISA, ISO, NFPA, CE, and OSHA.
  • PMP, ISA, or Industry 4.0 certifications are an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Office, customer site, and industrial plant environments.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • May require support during commissioning and production go-live phases.
