Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • API Gateway Development & Management
    • Configure and manage Kong Gateway for high-volume traffic.
    • Build and management solutions across microservices.
    • Develop custom Kong plugins using Lua or Go for performance and security.
  • Deployment & Automation
    • Automate build, deployment, and release workflows using CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
    • Support containerized and Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Observability & Monitoring
    • Strengthen platform observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and logging solutions.
    • Troubleshoot API performance, routing, and security issues.
  • Collaboration & Governance
    • Work with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Security, Cloud, Product).
    • Define API standards, governance models, and lifecycle processes.
Required Skills

  • Core Expertise
    • Hands-on experience with Kong Gateway (OSS/Enterprise).
    • Strong knowledge of API Management (Apigee, MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Azure APIM, Tyk also valued).
    • Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines.
    • Experience with multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or OpenShift.
  • Programming & Integration
    • Proficiency in Go, Lua, Python, Java, or Node.js for backend/integration logic.
    • Experience with REST, GraphQL, event-driven architectures.
  • Security
    • Deep knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting, throttling.
Preferred Experience

  • Years of Experience: Typically 5-10 years in API development, integration, or backend engineering.
  • Certifications: Kong Certification is highly valued.
  • Bonus Skills: Service mesh (Istio, Kuma), Kafka/event-driven systems, SaaS platform development
