JOB DESCRIPTION

Role: DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (DGM) – FINANCE & ACCOUNTS

Industry: Pharmaceutical / Other Electronics/ Aerospace products Manufacturing

Department: Finance & Accounts

Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) – First Attempt Preferred

Experience: Minimum 14 years of post-qualification experience, predominantly in manufacturing; pharmaceutical industry/ Aerospace industry experience preferred

ROLE PURPOSE

The DGM – Finance & Accounts will be responsible for managing the Company's Finance & Accounts function encompassing financial accounting and reporting, taxation, banking, treasury, working capital, budgeting, MIS, audits and financial controls.

The incumbent will report to the CFO – Finance & Accounts and should be capable of independently managing day-to-day finance operations while providing accurate and timely financial information, analysis and decision support to senior management.

The position requires a hands-on Chartered Accountant with strong technical, analytical and leadership capabilities, preferably with significant exposure to pharmaceutical / Aerospace manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual book closure and ensure timely and accurate finalization of accounts.
  • Review Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure accuracy of General Ledger, provisions, accruals, depreciation, revenue recognition, inventory accounting and expense accounting.
  • Review bank, vendor, customer, related-party, inter-company and statutory reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with Ind AS, Schedule III and applicable provisions of the Companies Act.
  • Prepare/review standalone and consolidated financial statements, wherever applicable.
  • Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
  • Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for complex/non-routine transactions and maintenance of adequate supporting documentation.

2. GST & Indirect Taxation

  • Oversee GST compliance including return filing, reconciliations, Input Tax Credit and statutory payments.
  • Ensure reconciliation between books of accounts, GST returns and portal data.
  • Review GST implications relating to domestic sales, exports, imports, stock transfers, job work, discounts, credit notes, free/promotional supplies and related-party transactions.
  • Monitor e-invoicing and e-way bill compliance.
  • Handle GST notices, assessments, audits and refunds in coordination with consultants/advisors.
  • Ensure appropriate controls to minimize ITC losses and indirect-tax exposures.

3. Direct Taxation

  • Review corporate income-tax computations, advance tax and annual tax provisions.
  • Ensure timely TDS/TCS compliance, payments, returns and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate corporate income-tax return filing and tax audits.
  • Review current and deferred tax calculations.
  • Handle income-tax notices, assessments and scrutiny proceedings in coordination with tax consultants.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for tax positions, litigation and contingent liabilities.

4. Banking, Treasury & Fund Management

  • Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Prepare, review and submit CMA data, financial projections and other information to banks/financial institutions for raising new debt, enhancement/renewal of working capital limits and other credit facilities.
  • Monitor daily cash position and prepare short/medium-term cash-flow forecasts.
  • Manage working-capital facilities including CC, WCDL, LC, BG, bill discounting and other fund/non-fund-based facilities.
  • Monitor sanctioned limits, drawing power, utilization and compliance with sanction terms/covenants.
  • Coordinate renewal/enhancement of banking facilities and submission of stock/book-debt statements and other lender information.
  • Negotiate banking terms, interest rates, charges and other commercial terms.
  • Monitor borrowing costs and identify opportunities for finance-cost optimization.
  • Manage foreign exchange exposures and coordinate hedging/forex transactions as per Company policy.
  • Ensure applicable FEMA/RBI compliance relating to treasury and cross-border transactions.

5. Working Capital Management

  • Monitor and improve receivable days, payable days, inventory days and overall cash-conversion cycle.
  • Review customer ageing and coordinate collection of overdue receivables.
  • Monitor vendor payments and cash-flow requirements.
  • Review inventory from a financial perspective, including slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete and expired inventory.
  • Prepare periodic working-capital analysis and identify opportunities for releasing cash blocked in operations.

6. Budgeting, MIS & Management Reporting

  • Coordinate annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Prepare/review monthly management MIS covering P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and key financial ratios.
  • Analyse Actual vs Budget vs Previous Year performance and identify key variances.
  • Provide analysis of revenue, gross margin, material cost, manufacturing expenses, EBITDA, finance cost and working capital.
  • Prepare management dashboards covering receivables, inventory, borrowings, bank utilization, taxation, CAPEX and cash flows.
  • Provide financial analysis and decision support to the VP Finance and senior management.

7. Manufacturing & Pharmaceutical Finance

  • Ensure appropriate accounting and controls over raw materials, packing materials, WIP and finished goods.
  • Review inventory valuation, manufacturing overheads, product costing and production-related financial variances.
  • Analyse material consumption, yields, wastage/rejections and manufacturing costs.
  • Review provisions relating to slow/non-moving, obsolete and expired inventories.
  • Work closely with Production, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales and Commercial teams on financial matters.

8. Audit, Controls & Compliance

  • Coordinate statutory audit, internal audit, tax audit and other applicable audits.
  • Strengthen Internal Financial Controls (IFC), SOPs, approval matrices and maker-checker controls.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, banking covenants and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Maintain an effective Finance & Accounts compliance calendar.
  • Drive timely closure of audit findings and implementation of corrective actions.

9. Process Improvement, ERP & Team Management

  • Drive automation and process improvements within Finance & Accounts.
  • Strengthen ERP-based accounting, controls, reconciliations and management reporting.
  • Improve month-end closing timelines and reduce manual processes.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Finance & Accounts team.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, timelines and performance standards within the department.
