Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality CAS data for vehicle design programs. This role is critical to ensuring that the Design Studio can release accurate digital data for downstream applications and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Creation of Digital Surface Data at CAS Stages
- Develop high-quality digital surface data across all CAS stages.
- Incorporate technical and design iterations throughout the digital design evolution process.
- Work closely with physical modelling teams to ensure design intent is maintained.
2. Timely and Qualitative Delivery of CAS Stages
- Perform scan-to-surface translation.
- Execute sketch-to-surface translation.
- Refine details and surfaces in collaboration with Studio Engineering teams.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality CAS data as per project timelines.
3. Team Development & Process Improvement
- Mentor and guide CAS Modelers within the team.
- Drive a culture of high-quality output and continuous improvement.
- Establish and enhance digital modelling standards to maintain global competitiveness.
Stakeholder Interaction
Internal Stakeholders
- Creative Designers / Studio Engineers – Collaborative working and design reviews.
- Clay Modelers – Feedback discussions and design alignment.
- Prototype Team – Model preparation and data discussions.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Automotive Design, Industrial Design, or a Technical Degree/Diploma with relevant experience.
- Exposure to automotive OEM design environments and CAS/Class-A programs.
- Relevant Experience: 10–20 years.
Skills & Competencies
- High proficiency in CAS Modelling using Alias.
- Basic knowledge of CATIA.
- Strong project planning and execution capabilities.
- Good understanding of automotive design and vehicle development processes.
- Ability to interpret 2D sketches and design intent and translate them into high-quality 3D models.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with designers and engineering teams.
