JOB SUMMARY

Scope of Work: All Electrolyte Filling & Degassing Process within B-Zone in India & UK (For example Cell Injection, Laser weld, 2nd Sealing and Degassing, for NMC, LFP plants & Pilet Line) for establishing, optimizing, and scaling.

SME Major responsibility is Successful launch of project and have stable production with desired Yield and OEE. So, think off possible risk in every phase and get the mitigation action completed well in advance.

SME can have early involvement in project to supports to GME team for Equipment RFQ, FAT & SAT and buy off after PQ phase. SME should work hand in hand with GME & Equipment suppliers for Process window validation and parameter setting, initial trouble shoots and continuous optimization of Electrolyte Filling & Degassing Process

The SME supports Electrolyte Filling & Degassing Processdefect Analysis & Yield improvements by establishing process windows, leading trials and DOE, correlating SEI formation, Electrochemical process with NDT and destructive test data, and partnering closely with equipment, quality, maintenance, and production teams.

The role is central to achieving stable, high takt, high‑reliability production by defining CTQs, supporting equipment commissioning, and enabling safe, repeatable, and high‑precision value stream.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Launch Integration | India & UK (LFP/NMC) Formation process and End of line measurement & Testing.

1. Process & Industrialization

  • Develop, standardize, and scale Electrolyte Filling & Degassing Process for pilot and mass production.
  • Support in define Injection & degassing recipes, and Moisture test methodologies for LFP/NMC cells.

2. Equipment Ownership

  • Work with CFT for RFQ, supplier selection, design review, FAT/SAT, installation & commissioning of Electrolyte Filling & Degassing Process equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with Launch Book protocols and readiness for SOP.

3. Process Optimization & Yield

  • Establish process windows and CTQs for stable, high-takt production.
  • Drive DOE, trials, and optimization to improve yield, efficiency, and reliability.

4. Testing & Validation

  • Define and execute electrochemical testing (cycling, rate, life tests).
  • Ensure accurate characterization, validation, and qualification of cells.

5. Defect Analysis & Improvement

  • Lead Electrolyte Filling & Degassing Processrelated defect analysis and root cause investigation.
  • Correlate process parameters with electrochemical, NDT, and destructive test data.
  • Implement CAPA for yield and reliability improvement.

6. Data & Systems Integration

  • Ensure data integrity, traceability, and MES/SCADA integration.
  • Enable real-time monitoring and analytics for process control.

7. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with GME, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and suppliers.
  • Support product changes, trials, and industrialization alignment.

8. Launch Execution

  • Ensure timely commissioning, validation, and ramp-up for India & UK plants.
  • Support SOP readiness, capability (Cp/Cpk), and risk mitigation.

9. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe operation of formation processes (electrical/thermal risks).
  • Comply with global standards and plant safety requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Must have 12 to 15 years of total working experience and out of that More than 8 Years of experience in Lithium-Ion cell manufacturing.
  • 5 or more years, specific experience in Electrolyte Filling & Degassing Process.
  • Hands on experience on NMC & LFP chemistry.
  • Hands on experience of MES, real time process data analysis platforms and software tools.
  • Well verse Quality improvement and problem-solving tools like Six Sigma, 8D, SPC and 7QC tools.

Desired

  • Experience with Launch of new production lines.
  • Experience with Launch of Gigafactories
  • Experience with integrators and equipment OEM's related to all Formation processes.
  • Experience with End of line Cell testing and performance measurements equipment.

Role Specific Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or relevant demonstrable field experience.
