Role: Deputy General Manager – EHS
Job Summary
This position is responsible for leading and driving KMT's EHS strategy, culture and compliance for the Bangalore KIL manufacturing facility. The Deputy General Manager will lead and drive EHS performance, compliance, develop and implement systems and standards across the KIL business. Additionally, this position will directly supervise a team of 3 EHS professionals at the site.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead the global Environmental Health and Safety strategy for KIL and develop and execute implementation plans aligned with KMT strategic objectives.
- Implement sustainability of EHS management systems, regulatory programs, and processes to support EHS compliance and management systems.
- Lead Kennametal's Fatality and Serious injury (FSI) prevention strategy by managing and implementing processes to recognize, identify and control critical hazards and risks (lock, tag verify, Powered industrial vehicles, cranes, machine guarding, electrical safety, etc.).
- Ability to collaborate across operations and leadership, this position will have a dotted line responsibility to the Country Director.
- Lead and manage environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives with an emphasis on critical environmental operating permits.
- Implementation of KMT global EHS standards to assure compliance with internal standards and consistency across locations.
- Ability to influence operations and leadership
- Lead complex EHS capital investment projects for KIL to continuously improve EHS programs, compliance, as well as fatality and serious injury prevention.
- Lead and manage the industrial hygiene program, sampling and data analysis
- Lead and manage a diverse team of 3 EHS professionals through coaching, mentoring and supervision
- Ability to work and collaborate with local authorities such as the KSPCB, DOF, and other governing bodies.
Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates
Years of Relevant Work Experience Required: 15 -20 Years
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Areas Of Education, Certifications, And Skills
EHS Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Compliance; People Leadership
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing setting.
- Certified safety professional degree or other applicable degree strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage people and a strategic plan
- Strong knowledge and application of US based OSHA/EPA requirements.
- Strong knowledge of country and state specific regulations
- Excellent leadership and people skills
- Must have excellent communication both written and verbal.
