Job Description

The Dean – Student Affairs is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the holistic development, wellbeing, discipline, engagement, and overall student experience across IILM University. The role ensures that students academic, personal, social, and professional needs are addressed through structured systems, policies, and support mechanisms.

The Dean – Student Affairs will work closely with Deans of Schools, faculty, administrative teams, hostel and security teams, counsellors, and student bodies to create a safe, inclusive, disciplined, and vibrant campus environment aligned with the university's values and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Student Wellbeing & Support Systems

• Lead and strengthen student support services, including counselling, mental health support, wellness initiatives, and mentorship programs.

• Ensure effective implementation of student grievance redressal mechanisms, anti-ragging measures, POSH compliance, and student discipline frameworks.

• Promote physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing of students across campuses.

Student Engagement & Campus Life

• Oversee student clubs, societies, sports, cultural activities, leadership programs, and co-curricular initiatives.

• Foster a vibrant campus culture that encourages participation, inclusivity, diversity, and leadership development.

• Support student councils and representative bodies, ensuring constructive student participation in governance.

Discipline, Conduct & Safety

• Frame, implement, and monitor codes of conduct, disciplinary policies, and campus safety protocols.

• Coordinate with hostel administration, security teams, and local authorities to ensure student safety and welfare.

• Handle sensitive student issues, conflicts, and disciplinary cases with fairness, confidentiality, and empathy.

Residential Life & Facilities Coordination

• Oversee student housing, hostel life, mess facilities, and related welfare services.

• Ensure quality standards, safety, hygiene, and grievance resolution related to residential facilities.

• Act as a liaison between students and facilities/operations teams for welfare-related matters.

Student Success, Retention & Experience

• Monitor student attendance, engagement, retention, and overall satisfaction indicators.

• Identify at-risk students and implement early intervention and support mechanisms.

• Collaborate with academic leadership to enhance student experience and learning outcomes.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with UGC regulations, anti-ragging guidelines, student welfare norms, and statutory requirements.

• Support NAAC, NIRF, and other accreditation processes related to student support and progression.

• Maintain documentation, reports, and data related to student welfare and campus life.

External Liaison & Crisis Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for student-related crises and emergency situations.

• Liaise with parents/guardians, regulatory bodies, and external agencies as required.

• Support communication strategies during sensitive student-related issues.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Education, Social Sciences, Management, Law, Psychology, or related fields).

• Minimum 12–15 years of experience in higher education, with significant exposure to student affairs, administration, or academic leadership.

• Strong understanding of student welfare regulations, campus governance, and higher education compliance frameworks.
