Job Description

The Dean of the School of Business provides visionary academic, strategic, and administrative leadership to advance the School's mission, reputation, and impact. The role is responsible for academic excellence, faculty leadership, student outcomes, research growth, industry engagement, accreditation readiness, and institutional expansion. The Dean will build a high-performance culture that strengthens the School's national and global standing while ensuring innovative, industry-relevant, and future-ready business education.

1. Academic Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and executive education programs.
  • Ensure curriculum relevance, academic rigor, and continuous program enhancement.
  • Promote interdisciplinary learning, experiential pedagogy, and outcome-based education.
  • Lead innovation in teaching, learning, assessment, and digital academic delivery.

2. Faculty Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high-quality faculty members.
  • Foster a culture of research excellence, teaching innovation, and professional development.
  • Set clear expectations for performance, productivity, and academic contribution.
  • Encourage collaboration, accountability, and collegiality across departments.

3. Research and Scholarly Excellence

  • Strengthen research output, quality publications, funded projects, case development, and thought leadership.
  • Build research clusters, centers of excellence, and academic-industry research partnerships.
  • Enhance the School's visibility through conferences, rankings, citations, and global academic engagement.
  • Support doctoral supervision and research ecosystem development.

4. Industry Engagement and External Relations

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with industry leaders, alumni, recruiters, entrepreneurs, and professional bodies.
  • Align academic offerings with market needs and emerging business trends.
  • Develop executive education, consulting, and corporate learning opportunities.
  • Represent the School at national and international forums, partnerships, and events.

5. Student Experience and Employability

  • Champion a student-centric culture focused on learning, leadership, and employability.
  • Support high-quality placements, internships, entrepreneurship, and global exposure.
  • Ensure strong academic advising, mentoring, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Drive initiatives that improve student satisfaction, retention, and outcomes.

6. Accreditation, Quality, and Rankings

  • Lead efforts toward national and international accreditation readiness and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with academic governance, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Improve the School's standing in national and global rankings through measurable performance.
  • Establish robust data-driven academic and operational review mechanisms.

7. Strategic Planning and Resource Management

  • Develop and execute the School's strategic roadmap in alignment with university priorities.
  • Manage budgets, resources, infrastructure needs, and academic investments effectively.
  • Identify growth opportunities in new programs, partnerships, and markets.
  • Balance innovation with operational discipline and financial sustainability.

8. University Citizenship and Leadership

  • Contribute to institutional policy, planning, and governance.
  • Collaborate with other schools, centers, and leadership teams to advance the University's mission.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for Woxsen University locally, nationally, and globally.
  • Uphold the highest standards of integrity, inclusion, and academic excellence.
