Role Overview:
Dean (academics) is the functional head of the academic activities in the University. Dean (academics) operates in consultation with the deans/ directors of different schools. The Dean (academics), works as the authority of all key and supporting aspects related to the teaching and learning processes in consultation and direction of the VC and Chancellor. He/she reports to the VC. He/she has the following duties and responsibilities.
1. To develop the curriculum for the programs of the university and to implement the NEP 2020 framework as per the program requirements and the university statutes.
2. To develop policies for various academic activities in collaboration with the directors, other deans, program coordinators, and department heads under the guidance of the VC.
3. To prepare the academic calendar of the university integrating the professional events, examination dates, cultural activities, and other important occasions.
4. To assess and evaluate the current programs, projects and staff assignments to create a dynamic academic environment.
5. To perform the audit analysis of each program and each school in collaboration with the VC.
6. To conduct ongoing academic program reviews, and prepare proposals for new programs, and program modifications that enhance enrolment and program quality in the schools.
7. To coordinate in the teaching and learning process through the department heads and course coordinators.
8. To identify industry/institutions for collaboration and approve MoUs for academic collaborations.
9. To maintain appropriate assessment data, prepare reports and verify compliance with accreditation standards for eligible programs in the schools.
10. To direct the professional development of the faculty and staff, including post-tenure reviews, annual reviews and goal setting consistent with the university strategic plan to ensure the ongoing success of the students and the schools.
11. To demonstrate awareness and appreciation of the university mission and core values in fostering progress within the strategic plan.
12. To demonstrate a commitment to promoting a campus culture that values inclusion and diversity.
13. To actively promote the interests of the University professionally whenever and wherever possible.
14. To supervise and strategize credit requirements of academic programs adhering to statutory and government norms.
15. To facilitate student exchange programs and to set the credit recognition system for the university for the exchange programs.
16. To report to the VC and to help in other administrative matters and committees as a member/convenor as required.
17. To conduct result analysis of the subjects/programs/schools using the reports from registrar (evaluation) and to report to the VC on this matter.
