Job Description
The role requires strong technical expertise in Cognos to deliver reporting solutions and provide technical support for the business users. It includes serving as the point of contact for the business, collaborating closely with business users, team members and external technical teams. Role holder is expected to:
- Possess strong investigative and analytical qualities
- Be educated to degree level or equivalent industry experience and it is desirable to have has an appropriate certification relating to the technical specialism that the role requires.
- Have excellent communication skills in English - both written and verbal.
- Be a team player with a positive and constructive attitude towards work and colleagues.
Apply a diligent approach to completing work on time and to an agreed, acceptable level of quality
Responsibilities
- Cognos expert responsible for design and development of reports.
- Deliver Cognos reports in line with agreed requirements and quality standards
- Participate in a cross functional teamwork, following Agile principles with responsibility for the end-to-end process, delivering within expected time.
- To follow standard Agile working practices:
- Participate in all the daily and weekly ceremonies in your team
- Work with users from business teams to understand the requirements and develop appropriately innovative and practical solutions.
- Work closely with ETL, QA and other developers to build data solutions.
Qualifications
- IBM Cognos 10+, Tableau (good to have but not essential)
- Experience of Oracle PL/SQL, Star schema design (Kimball methodology).
- Good understanding of Kimball methodology / star schema design.
- Experience in development of data solutions for financial services.
