Job Description
We are looking for an exceptional Data & Cloud Architect with extensive experience in enterprise data platforms and cloud technologies. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving our cloud data engineering initiatives, particularly focused on Azure. This position offers the unique opportunity to lead and shape our data architecture, ensuring we build scalable, secure, and AI-ready data platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end architecture and solution design for our cloud data platforms, including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, AWS and Synapse.
- Ensure our data platforms are highly scalable, secure, and optimized for AI and machine learning workloads.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in cloud technologies and data engineering practices, and drive innovation within the organization.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive-level personnel.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for cloud data engineering within the organization.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- 14+ years of experience in enterprise data platforms, cloud ecosystems, and large-scale transformation programs.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Microsoft Fabric, and a strong understanding of their capabilities and use cases.
- Proven track record of leading complex modernization initiatives and delivering successful outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and mentor a high-performing team.
- Experience with AWS is a plus, as is a background in AI and machine learning.
- A proactive and innovative mindset, always seeking to improve and optimize our data platforms.
- Ability to work remotely and manage projects independently, with strong time management skills.
- Architecture & Strategy
- Define enterprise data architecture strategy across multi-cloud (Azure & AWS).
- Design scalable Lakehouse architectures using Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
- Establish data platform reference architecture, standards, and governance frameworks.
- Drive cloud-native, serverless, and event-driven architectural patterns.
- 2. Databricks & Lakehouse Engineering
- Architect Bronze/Silver/Gold layered data pipelines.
- Design Delta Lake-based architectures.
- Implement real-time and batch ingestion frameworks.
- Enable ML/AI use cases leveraging Databricks MLflow & Unity Catalog.
- Optimize performance, cost, and workload isolation.
- 3. Microsoft Fabric & Azure
- Design Azure data services:
- ADLS Gen2
- Azure SQL
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Purview
- Event Hub / Service Bus
- Implement enterprise security using Azure AD, RBAC, and Managed Identities.
- 4. AWS Architecture
- Architect AWS-native data platforms using:
- S3
- Glue
- Redshift
- EMR
- Lambda
- IAM
- Kinesis
- Design cross-cloud integration patterns (Azure AWS).
- Establish cost governance and FinOps practices.
- 5. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead architecture reviews, solution in proposals and design authority boards.
- Engage with C-level stakeholders & give demonstrations and translate business strategy into technical roadmaps.
- Mentor architects and senior engineers.
- Drive RFP responses, solution estimation, and delivery governance.
