DBT Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy production-grade data models using dbt (Jinja and SQL) following modular and incremental modeling practices.
• Transform data from Databricks Unity Catalog and Delta Lake tables using dbt for optimized consumption by Snowflake and other downstream systems.
• Optimize dbt models and Databricks queries using SQL and Spark for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Apply partitioning, clustering, and table optimization techniques such as Z-Ordering to improve query performance.
• Establish and enforce dbt development best practices including documentation, version control, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Implement comprehensive data quality checks covering accuracy, uniqueness, and referential integrity.
• Integrate dbt projects into CI/CD pipelines managed through GitLab for automated testing and deployment across environments.
• Collaborate closely with Data Governance and Compliance teams to ensure secure handling of sensitive and consent-driven data.
• Work with cross-functional teams to support analytics, business intelligence, and reporting use cases.
