Introduction
We are seeking a skilled and proactive
DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support and optimize our DB2 database environments. The ideal candidate will work closely with application development teams to ensure database performance, integrity, and scalability, while also contributing to design and implementation of database solutions.
Your Role And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize DB2 database schemas, queries, and stored procedures.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and availability across DB2 environments.
- Support application deployments and troubleshoot database-related issues.
- Monitor and maintain database health using tools.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
- Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
- Maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards.
- Stay updated with DB2 features, patches, and best practices
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a DB2 DBA, preferably in an application-focused role.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows)
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and performance tuning techniques.
- Experience with database design, normalization, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Experience with other RDBMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of cloud-based DB2 deployments (e.g., watsonX.data).
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting (Shell, Python, etc.)
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Instana)
- Experience in solutions engineering.
