Job Description

  • Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
  • Manage database backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design database schemas and optimize data models.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, including performance degradation, connectivity problems, and data integrity concerns.
  • Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access controls and encryption.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripts and tools.
  • Provide support for database-related incidents and service requests as part of on-call rotation.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.

Years of Experience:

  • 4 to 10 years of hands-on experience in database administration and optimization.

Educational Qualification & Certifications (Optional):

  • BE in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft SQL Server DBA, or AWS/Azure database certifications are a plus.

Skill Set Required:

Must Have:

  • Strong experience in database administration (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
  • Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of database security, user access control, and encryption techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with database migration and upgrade processes.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell) for automation.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
  • Knowledge of high-availability solutions (clustering, replication).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices related to database deployments.
