Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available databases across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Manage the full database lifecycle, including provisioning, maintenance, patching,
  • upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Architect and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure
  • business continuity.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance through tuning, query optimization, and
  • indexing strategies.
  • Automate operational tasks such as monitoring, patching, and provisioning using
  • scripting and configuration tools.
  • Administer and support Oracle (RAC, Data Guard, Golden Gate, ASM), PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server (Always On, SSIS, SSRS).
  • Support additional database technologies such as MongoDB, MySQL, or Cassandra.
  • Enforce security, access control, and compliance requirements across all database
  • Act as an escalation point for complex database issues, providing 24/7 on-call support
  • and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of database architecture, configurations, and
  • operational standards.

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in database administration and engineering, specifically, within an Infrastructure and Operations context.
  • Proven mastery of multiple database platforms, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
  • Expertise in database security, performance tuning, and high availability configurations (e.g., clustering, replication, failover).
  • Strong experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, PostgreSQL certification).
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience with database migration projects, including cross-platform migrations.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.
